Celebrating 100 Years of Service
Valley Sanitary District’s 100-year anniversary marked more than a milestone. It was a celebration of a century of service, partnership, and dedication to protecting public health in the City of Indio and the eastern Coachella Valley.
Our Centennial Celebration brought together employees, elected officials, community partners, and residents to reflect on the District’s legacy and recognize the collective effort that has sustained it for 100 years. The event was highlighted by the presentation of 12 proclamations, an honor that underscored the importance of Valley Sanitary District’s role in the region and the lasting impact of its work.
We were also honored to hear from distinguished guest speakers who helped commemorate this historic moment, including Indio Mayor Glenn Miller, Joaquin Esquivel, Chair of the State Water Resources Control Board, Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, and Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez. Their remarks reflected the value of collaboration, strong leadership, and long term investment in essential infrastructure.
At the heart of this celebration were the employees past and present whose dedication, expertise, and public service made a century of progress possible. Their commitment, often working behind the scenes, has been foundational to the District’s success and its mission to safeguard public health.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Board members, past and present whose guidance and stewardship helped shape the District through decades of growth and change.
Above all, we thank the community we proudly serve. Your trust and support over the last 100 years have been essential to our journey. As we reflect on this milestone, we do so with pride in our past and a renewed commitment to continue serving with integrity and responsibility as we look ahead to the next century.
